Rahul Gandhi vs EC | Congress likens poll body to ostrich burying head amid 'vote chori' charges

Amid raging row between Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and the Election Commission, the Congress likened the poll body to an ostrich, which is burying its head in the sand, saying it is running away from opposition's questions. 

The opposition INDIA bloc carried out a major protest against the Election Commission in Delhi on Monday. MPs of the INDIA bloc took out a march from the Parliament to the Election Commission and raised slogans alleging irregularities in the electoral roll. The opposition also targeted the poll body over alleged irregularities in the special intensive electoral revision in Bihar. 

Upping the ante against the Election Commission over 'vote chori' charges and intensive election revision in Bihar, opposition MPs, including Leaders of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, took part in the protest march and raised slogans against the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll. 

However, the Delhi police stopped the protesting MPs from reaching the Commission's office. Many of the MPs sat on the road and raised slogans. The MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, were later removed from the road and taken away in buses. Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who took part in the protest, fainted in the bus. The protesting MPs alleged police shoved them. 

Meanwhile, Gandhi claimed Congress's campaign against  'vote chori' is gaining momentum, and they have received over 1 million missed calls in 24 hours. He added over 1.5 million support certificates were downloaded. "This is the true picture of India's democracy today - suppressed voices of truth that are rising powerfully through our campaign. Let not even a single case of vote theft go unnoticed," Gandhi urged in a post on X.
