The Intelligence Wing of Rajasthan Police arrested an employee at the Indian Navy headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday on charges of espionage.
Vishal Yadav, a resident of Haryana, was allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, for years and even during Operation Sindoor, the Times of India reported on Thursday.
Yadav, an upper division clerk at the directorate of the dockyard in Nausena Bhawan, was in constant touch with a female handler of the ISI, who was operating under the name ‘Priya Sharma’.
According to intelligence officials, Yadav leaked sensitive and strategically significant information to the Pakistani handler in exchange for money.
The TOI report quoted Inspector General of Police (Security) Vishnukant Gupta as saying that Yadav’s activities came to light as the intelligence wing had been maintaining surveillance on suspected espionage activities of people linked to Pakistani networks.
