Her controversial commentary had often drawn criticism. A few months ago, an overseas gangster had reportedly threatened her life for posting content he found objectionable, Hindustan Times said in a report.
Kanchan Kumari's lifeless body was discovered when locals noticed a foul smell coming from the stationary car and alerted the police, Punjabi media reports said. The hospital parking lot is located on the Bathinda–Chandigarh National Highway. The probe team has reportedly taken the car into custody and started examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
The cause of her death is expected to be confirmed following an autopsy. The police reportedly learned that she had left for Bathinda on June 9 for a promotional event but lost contact with her family in the days that followed.
As things stand, the Punjab Police believe the car was abandoned in the parking lot after the crime was committed. The registration plates of the vehicle are said to be fake, and assistance from the Motor Vehicle Department has been sought, a top police official told the press.
