The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned heavy to very heavy rainfall across several regions in India from May 18 to May 24.
The west coast—Karnataka, Konkan and Goa and Kerala—and adjoining Peninsular India is likely to witness intense showers.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall from May 18-20. Showers are likely in Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka from May 18-24.
Isolated rains are likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from from May 20-22 and in Rayalaseema from May 18-20 and south interior Karnataka from May 18-21.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Northeast India and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 5-6 days. The region is also expected to experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-50 kmph during the same period.
Other areas, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, will also see isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Isolated hailstorms are likely over Himachal Pradesh on May 19 and Uttarakhand on May 19-20.
The weather agency also predicts heat wave conditions over west Rajasthan during May 18-22 and over Jammu and Kashmir on May 18.
In Delhi, the IMD reported about 1 millimetre of rainfall between 8 am on Saturday and 8 am on Sunday. Areas such as central Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Maharani Bagh, and Mayur Vihar witnessed rainfall.
