Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, extended support to the Centre's measures in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor and said the opposition stands with the Union government in this moment of crisis. The Centre convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to brief political leaders about 'Operation Sindoor'.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed the party leaders about the anti-terror operation launched by India to avenge the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack. In the meeting, the defence minister briefed the political parties about the success of the anti-terror operation and the developments in the aftermath of the attack.
Addressing presspersons after the all-party meeting, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said, "We have extended our full support to the government."
This is the second time the Centre has convened an all-party meeting within two weeks after the gruesome killings of 26 persons in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, J.P. Nadda, Kiren Rijiju and Nirmala Sitharaman represented the government, while Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge from the Congress, Sandip Bandyopadhyay of the Trinamool Congress and DMK's T.R. Baalu were among the leading opposition figures in the meeting.

Other opposition leaders included Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Sanjay Singh of the AAP, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Sanjay Raut, NCP (SP)'s Supriya Sule, BJD's Sasmit Patra and CPI(M)'s John Brittas. JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, Union minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi were also part of the meeting.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said all political party leaders lauded and congratulated the armed forces for 'Operation Sindoor'. He added that the leaders extended their support to the government and also made a few suggestions.
