The upcoming budget session in Telangana has gained more significance with the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) all set for a showdown.
Former Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao is likely to be present on the first day of the session, according to his party. Fireworks can be expected since his presence would encourage his party to be more aggressive and attack the government on various issues.
The Congress party will also use the opportunity to not just defend their governance but also criticise the past term’s rule to get back at KCR.
Ahead of the budget session, which begins on Wednesday, the BRS Legislature Party (BRSLP) meeting was held under the supervision of KCR, as Rao is popularly known. He directed all the members to be present during the session and amplify their stand on public issues. He conveyed to his party members that they should expose the alleged corrupt rule of the Congress government.
KCR urged the members of the Assembly and the Council to highlight issues concerning the unavailability of irrigation water and power, dried crops and other farmers' issues. He also felt that the party should support the SC and BC reservation bills.
KCR also wants the members of his party to corner the government on the unfulfilled poll promises of the Congress, especially those related to women. In the meeting that lasted for three hours, KCR felt that the state government should be held accountable for the implementation of all the schemes.
He also stressed on the need to defend any false accusation of the Congress party against them. The attendance of KCR will be seen as a response of the BRS against the Congress accusation that the former CM was wasting public money by not discharging his duties as the opposition leader of the Assembly.
The Congress is likely to be vocal about the initiatives they have undertaken in the last one year of their administration. Meanwhile, the BJP is also gearing up to confront the Congress government on various issues.
