As Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his two-day visit to Assam, the Congress party raised concerns over BJP-affiliated individuals assaulting Assam police officers while no arrests were made.
At a press conference, Assam Congress officials stated that four days ago, Congress MP Rakibul Hussain was also attacked in broad daylight, with assailants even targeting his police security officers. Earlier, PCC president Bhupen Borah also faced a similar attack.
Borah said, "You all know the situation in Assam, I was also attacked, there is a video but no arrests have been made."

The press conference also marked out growing public resentment in Assam with many accusing the BJP of rampant corruption. The Congress leaders talked about unemployment being at its peak, the struggling economy of Assam, and law enforcement being used selectively against political opponents. The BJP’s handling of illegal immigration has also come under scrutiny.

Are you aware that illegal rat-hole coal mining is thriving in Assam, allegedly under the patronage of your CM?
Over 15 innocent lives have been lost in recent tragedies.
If you were unaware, consider this an official alert. If you knew, what action…
Congress Assam general secretary in-charge Jitendra Singh said "Does Modi know what is happening in Assam, does he know the kind of corruption happening there? Are there any actions taken against them?"
Modi is set to inaugurate the ‘Advantage Assam 2.0’ summit, aimed at attracting investments. However, the Congress called it as implementation of his ‘failed’ vibrant Gujarat model in Assam.
The first edition signed 200 MoUs worth Rs 1,00,000 crore, yet only 51 per cent got materialized, all from PSUs. According to Congress, Assam’s government confirmed that only eight projects—seven PSU initiatives worth Rs 1,621 crore and one private investment of Rs 39.85 crore—have been commissioned in five years. Assam ranked 20th in the 2020 “Ease of Doing Business” index.
