The Congress Party, in a high-level meeting on Wednesday, outlined key organisational decisions and action plan, emphasising structural strengthening and a nationwide outreach initiative through Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra (Foot march to save Constitution), a year-long mass-contact programme aimed at addressing public grievances.
The Congress's most notable and impactful padayatra till now has been the Bharat Jodo Yatra (2022-2023) led by Rahul Gandhi, which spanned over 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, and was aimed at countering communalisation and highlighting economic distress.
The Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra will target issues such as inflation, unemployment, GST burden, price rise, and what the party describes as a sustained attack on constitutional values by the BJP-led Union government.
As per the decision taken in the Nav Satyagraha Baithak held in Belagavi, Karnataka, the reach-out campaign will run till January 26, 2026, and cover every village and town. Moreover, Congress leaders stressed that meticulous state-level planning will ensure maximum participation from leaders, workers and volunteers.
Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, said that one of the primary agendas of the Congress was the urgent need to complete organisational appointments at all levels.
Also, in a key organisational decision, the party has also planned to hold the AICC session in Gujarat in early April, with preparations set to begin immediately. The meeting underscored Congress's renewed focus on internal strengthening and mass outreach as it prepares for upcoming electoral battles.
