The BJP is all set to come back to power in the national capital for the first time since 1998, with early trends released by the Election Commission of India showing the saffron party leading in 47 seats of the total 70 in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025.

The ruling AAP is ahead in 23 seats, a far cry from the 62-seat tally it secured in the 2020 polls. The decline is evident from the fact that two of its most popular leaders national convener and ex-CM Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi are trailing in New Delhi and Kalkaji constituencies respectively as per the trends so far. BJP’s Parvesh Verma, who is also one of the CM candidates, was leading against Kejriwal by more than 3,000 votes. Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit was a distant third, with only around 4,000 votes polled.

Former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, too, is trailing from Jangpura against BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh by a marginal number of around 500 votes.

BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri, who was leading against Atishi by over 200 votes, said, "The people will give the BJP a decisive mandate. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Delhi will progress alongside the rest of the country. I can confidently say that AAP will be eliminated from the national capital."
