Social activist and the face of Lokpal protests, Anna Hazare, took a dig at Aam Aadmi Party over its trailing performance in the Delhi Assembly polls. The AAP is leading only in 24 seats against the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is leading in 46 seats.

Talking to presspersons, Hazare said, “I have been saying it for a long that while contesting the election, the candidate must have a character, good ideas and have no dent on image. But, they (AAP) didn't get that. They got tangled in liquor and money,” ANI reported.

Hazare said former Delhi chief minister Kejriwal’s image suffered a dent due to the alleged scam in Delhi liquor policy. “Kejriwal’s image was dented...and that's why they are getting fewer votes in the election,” he added. The social activist added it is one’s responsibility to prove allegations made against them false.

In the election held to 70-seat Delhi Assembly, as per Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 46 seats and the AAP is leading only in 24. Key AAP candidates are trailing. Kejriwal is trailing behind BJP’s Pravesh Singh Verma in New Delhi seat by 3,000 votes. It is a close fight for Chief Minister Atishi, who is leading by 989 votes against the BJP’s Ramesh Bhiduri. AAP minister Saurabh Bharadwaj is trailing by 3,646 votes in Greater Kailash seat.
