A major fire broke out at Delhi's Kashmere Gate Metro police station in the early hours of Saturday, news reports said. While no reports of casualties or injuries were reported, many documents were completely gutted in the incident. As things stand, very little is known about the cause of the incident. Here is every detail we know about the fire so far:
The Delhi Fire Department was first alerted about the fire at around 12:45 AM on Friday. Soon, a dozen fire and rescue vehicles were rushed to the Kashmere Gate Metro police station, NDTV said in a report. The cause of the fire remains unknown during the time of compiling this report.
According to a Financial Express report, cooling operations were initiated as the firefighters were able to bring under control after a few hours.
The police station was reduced to ashes after flames engulfed the barracks and record room in which files were stored, the news report said. According to reports, the Kashmere Gate Metro police station also houses the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Metro.
Kashmere Gate Metro Station is one of the major interchange stations of Delhi Metro as it connects the Yellow, Red and Violet Lines.
