In a shocking case, bodies of three minor sisters were found stuffed inside a trunk at their house in Kanpur village of Punjab's Jalandhar. Police have filed a murder case and launched an investigation.
The deceased were identified as Kanchan, 4, Shakti, 7, and Amrita, 9. The bodies have been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
The girls' father, a migrant worker, had filed a complaint with the police on Sunday night about his daughters having gone missing. On Monday, when he was shifting the household items, he found the trunk heavier than usual and when he opened it, he found the bodies of his three daughters inside it, police said.
Police also informed that the family of the girls had received an ultimatum from their landlord to vacate the house over their father's drinking habit.
According to some local reports, however, the police also suspect that the children were killed by their father. The cops had detained the man and his wife and questioned them, they said.
