Bihar journalist murder case: Four arrested, two absconding

A total of eight people were accused

In connection with the murder of Dainik Jagran journalist Vimal Yadav, four persons were arrested on Friday, said the Bihar Police on Saturday. Yadav, 40 was, reportedly, shot in the chest by four people who arrived at his residence in Raniganj.

"8 people were named accused. 4 of the accused namely Vipin Yadav, Bhavesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav and Umesh Yadav have been arrested. 2 accused Rupesh Yadav and Kranti Yadav are in Araria jail and the Police are taking them on remand. 2 accused are absconding," Bihar Police was quoted by ANI.

The journalist was a witness in the murder of his brother in 2019.

Yadav was shot dead by around 5.30 am at his residence. According to Ashok Kumar Singh, the Superintendent of Police for Araria, the assailants opened fire as soon as he opened the gates.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had assured that the culprits will be punished.

The officials are also looking into the nearby CCTV footages.

Further investigation is underway and we are probing all angles, said Singh.
