A woman on Sunday died at New Delhi railway station area due to electrocution as she allegedly grabbed on to an electric pole trying to avoid falling into puddles amid heavy rain.
The deceased has been identified as Sakshi Ahuja, a resident of east Delhi's Preet Vihar. She, along with her family, had reached the railway station to catch the Bhopal Shatabdi Express.
“We were going to Chandigarh. I was in the parking area when I received the information that my daughter Sakshi Ahuja has died due to electrocution. This has happened due to the negligence of the concerned authority,” Lokesh Kumar Chopra, father of the deceased woman, was quoted by ANI.
Though the people in the area had rushed Sakshi to the nearby Lady Hardinge Hospital immediately after she fell, she could not be saved. According to the officials, she died at the hospital and the body was sent for postmortem.
However, the victim's sister Madhvi Chopra filed a complaint alleging negligence by concerned authorities. Based on the complaint, Delhi police had registered a case for negligence.
The officials are inspecting the area, said police.
As per ANI, a complaint alleging the concerned authority for their negligence was received and a case u/s 287/304-A IPC was registered. FSL, Rohini team is inspecting the place of incident, said police.
In a similar incident, two men were killed while another injured after they came in contact with a high-tension electric wire on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Rashid (30) and Afsar (32), they said the incident happened in the Rithaura area.
