While addressing the gathering at the protest venue in Rajghat Delhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lashed out at BJP and called the India's Prime Minister 'a coward'.

“File a case against me, put me in jail, but the truth is India's PM is a coward,” said Priyanka.

She also added that a martyred prime minister's son who walked thousands of kilometres for national unity can never insult the country.

"You call my brother, the son of a martyr, a traitor and Mir Jafar. You insult his mother...You insult my family everyday. But no cases are filed," said Priyanka, reported NDTV.

Several Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Saktisinh Gohil, Jothimani, Pratibha Singh and Manish Chatrath were present at the Rajghat observing the satyagraha against Rahul Gandhi's disqualification.

The time has come to raise a voice against the “arrogant government” as Rahul Gandhi from contesting elections does not bode well for the country and its democracy.

"My family's blood has ploughed democracy in this country. We are ready to do anything for this country's democracy. Great leaders of the Congress laid the foundation of democracy in this country. Time has come and we are not the ones who will remain silent anymore," she said.

Several Congress leaders including Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Saktisinh Gohil, Jothimani, Pratibha Singh and Manish Chatrath were also present at the protest venue in Delhi.

Despite the police refusing to grant permission for satyagraha at Rajghat, a large number of party workers gathered outside the venue despite the police refusing to grant permission for the satyagraha.

Adequate security arrangements were put in place, a senior police officer told PTI.

In a letter, the Delhi Police said the request for holding the satyagraha was rejected due to law and order and traffic reasons and prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC had been imposed in and around Rajghat.

The Congress has put up a stage outside Rajghat and are protesting against Rahul Gandhi's conviction in a 2019 defamation case and his subsequent disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

Congress is staging protest across the nation in support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra called Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from Lok Sabha a "murder of democracy". "He was raising the issue of corruption done in connivance between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and (industrialist Gautam) Adani and to suppress his voice, a decision was taken in haste to terminate his Lok Sabha membership," he said.
