Anjali, the 20-year-old Delhi woman who died after she was dragged under a car for 12 km, was stuck on the front wheel of the vehicle, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) said on Wednesday. So far, no sign of the woman being present inside the car has been found, FSL stated in its report after initial analysis.
“Most blood stains were found behind the front left wheel. Blood stains have been found on other parts also, under the car,” the report said. Blood samples of the accused will also be evaluated in detail at the FSL, ANI reported. A preliminary postmortem report of the victim on Tuesday indicated "no injury suggestive of sexual assault".
Doctors who conducted the postmortem told PTI that the provisional cause of death was "shock and haemorrhage as a result of antemortem injury to the head, spine, left femur and lower limbs".
Anjali was killed in the early hours of the New Year after her scooter was hit by the car, which dragged her. Her body was found in outer Delhi's Kanjhawala. Five men who were allegedly in the car have been booked for culpable homicide among other sections. All five accused were sent to a three-day police custody on Monday. Anjali's mortal remains were cremated on Tuesday amid tight security.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victim's family and assured that the government will appoint the "best lawyer" to fight the case. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also visited Anjali's home on Wednesday.
