Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is known for his penchant to use intrigue words and catchy phrases on social platforms. On Thursday he wished Thiruvananthapuram MP Arya Rajendran—who had made news after becoming the youngest mayor in the country in 2020 at the age of 21—after her wedding with CPI(M) legislator K.M. Sachin Dev was announced.
In the cricket-inspired wedding wish, Tharoor described Dev as a “good catch”.
“Congratulated Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran on the announcement of her impending nuptials to CPIM’s youngest MLA, SachinDev. Anyone whose name combines two of India’s greatest cricketers must be a good catch, I told her! Blessings & best wishes to the young couple,” Tharoor wrote on Twitter, apparently referring to cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev.
The MP also shared a photograph of him with Arya.
Though the wedding date has not been announced, it is expected to occur soon after the CPI(M) state committee meeting, Onmanorama reported.
Interestingly, Sachin, 28, is the youngest MLA in Kerala Assembly.
Both Sachin and Arya have known each other since they worked for Bala Sangham, Kerala's largest children's organisation.
Sachin completed his degree in English at Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode and LLB at Government Law College, Kozhikode. He was the former chairman of the Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode. He is now the All India Joint Secretary of the Students Federation of India (SFI).
Arya is the state president of Bala Sangham. She is also a state committee member of the SFI. She was elected from Mudavanmukal ward from Nemom Assembly constituency at the age of 21.
