Kerala woman, who was the first person to test positive for COVID-19 in India, has tested positive for the disease again, according to reports. A medical student in China's Wuhan, she had tested positive for the novel coronavirus in January last year after she returned to India for semester break.
The woman who hails from Thrissur in Kerala tested positive for COVID-19 again four days ago, Manorama Online reported. Currently under home quarantine, she is asymptomatic. Her samples were tested as she was prepared to travel to New Delhi for study purposes. Then the RT-PCR result turned out to be positive.
Kerala recorded 7,798 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, with a test positivity rate of 9.14 per cent. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday that though the number of infections are not going down, restrictions like lockdown cannot be continued indefinitely and things need to go back to normal as soon as possible. That is why the restrictions are being eased or phased out, he said.
On the vaccinations in the state, the chief minister said 43 per cent of people in the above 18 years category have received the first dose and 12 per cent have received the second dose.
