The Karnataka government ruled out the possibility of a lockdown in the state, even as the state has been witnessing a steep hike in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The state recorded over 3,000 new cases on Sunday, after a gap of four months. Karnataka had last reported over 3,000 fresh cases on November 5, 2020 with 3,156 cases. On Sunday, as many as 3,082 fresh cases were reported from the state.
The state government announced that no protests and rallies will be allowed in the state for the next 15 days, reported ANI. Pointing out that there has been an increase in the number of cases in apartments, the government said no parties or celebrations will be allowed from Monday, even as it ruled out a lockdown.
The government also warned strict action against those not wearing masks.
Besides, a coordination committee of eight IAS officers has been constituted to review and take action to control the pandemic situation in Bengaluru, along with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike commissioner, administrator and officials.
