Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa's son B.Y. Vijayendra has alleged the Congress's national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has parroted the "false and libellous charges" made by a private news channel.

Vijayendra, who is also one of the state BJP vice-presidents, tweeted in response to the allegations of corruption and money laundering made by Surjewala against him and his two relatives.

Earlier in the day, Surjewala, the AICC general secretary who was made in-charge of Karnataka recently, held a press meet in Bengaluru, where he demanded the resignation of Yediyurappa alleging the CM's son (Vijayendra), grandson (Shashidhar Maradi) and son-in-law (Virupakshappa Maradi) had accepted a bribe of Rs 17 crore in connection with a government housing project.

"Shocking that @rssurjewala, a national @INCIndia spokesman, has come all the way to Bengaluru and ended up parroting the false charges & lies made in utter disregard to court orders by a private TV channel with history of character assassination, blackmail, and extortion," tweeted Vijayendra, who sought to know if Surjewala was aware that the news channel in question had aired "false stories".

"Is Surjewala aware that the channnel aired false stories and in contempt of the court orders and has been using language that's uncivilized & unbecoming of a news channel? It's a pity Surjewala ended up as spokesman of a private channel airing libelous content & spewing their lies & allegations," added Vijayendra.
