A Bihar-based lawyer has filed a complaint against Chinese President Xi Jinping and World Health Organisation Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a local court, blaming them for the novel coronavirus pandemic. The court has fixed June 16 for hearing the case.
In his complaint filed in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in West Champaran district, Advocate Murad Ali alleged that Xi is responsible for the spread the virus from Wuhan City in China to the entire world in December 2019. He also accused the WHO chief of conspiring with the Chinese leader and concealing the spread.
The complainant has named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump as witnesses.
Ali has cited social media, print media and electronic media as the source of the allegations and demanded actions under Sections 269, 270, 271, 302, 307, 500, 504 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
This is not the first time a complaint has been filed against the Chinese president in a Bihar court.
In March, Muzaffarpur-based Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha had filed a complaint against Xi and Chinese ambassador to India Sun Weidong, accusing them of hatching a criminal conspiracy to spread the coronavirus.
