UP: Seven samples found positive for COVID-19

On Thursday, four patients—one from Noida and three from Agra were hospitalised

The state control room of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme in Uttar Pradesh has pegged at 2,764, the total number of passengers from 12 specified countries reporting a high load of the novel coronavirus in the state.

In the latest medical bulletin released this evening by the Directorate of Health Services, it was said that there were 761 individuals under surveillance. Of these, 132 patients displayed symptoms of the virus have been identified in the state. Four of these have been hospitalised at Safdargunj Hospital, Delhi.

In addition, 2,003 travellers from high infection countries have completed the stipulated observation period.

On Thursday, four patients—one from Noida and three from Agra were hospitalised. The number of asymptomatic patients hospitalised stand at six.

582 samples have been sent for test to the King George’s Medical University and to the National Institute of Virology, Pune. Seven samples are being tested at BHU, Varanasi, while 13 are being tested at Aligarh.

Seven samples in Agra, two in Ghaziabad and one each in Noida and Ghaziabad have been found positive. 499 samples have tested negative while results are awaited for 73 samples.

17,048 travellers have so far been screened at airports. At border checkposts, this number is a much higher 12,28,303. The Directorate has specified that these are travellers and not suspects.

In addition, 1,904 sensitisation meetings have been held at villages along the the porous Indo-Nepal border.

There are 1,093 identified quarantine beds in hospitals across the state.

The Directorate has also said that travellers, including Indians, having a travel history from China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Germany, Spain and France after February 15, 2020, shall be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days with effect from 12.00 GMT on March 13, 2020 at the port of departure for such travellers.
