Now, Maharashtra ex-CM's MLA son attacks officer with mud and slime

The incident comes days after an MP BJP MLA attacked a municipal officer

In a shocking display of arrogance, a Congress MLA in Maharashtra, along with his supporters, was caught on camera attacking a civic officer on the Mumbai-Goa highway on Thursday. Two people have been arrested and the police are on lookout for the lawmaker.

Congress legislator Nitesh Rane, son of former chief minister Narayan Rane, and his supporters were seen pouring a bucket full of mud and slime on sub-engineer Prakash Shedekar before thrashing him and pushing him around at a bridge on the Gad river in Kanakavali. The incident happened when Rane was “inspecting” the patholes-ridden highway.

"People are bearing it daily... Now, you also experience it," the MLA's men were seen shouting at the officer. They also tied him to the bridge, accusing him of being responsible for the poor condition of the road.

“Now I will myself oversee the repair work on this highway, with a stick in my hand,” the MLA later said. “Everyday at 7 am I will reach here. Let me see how the government system wins against us. We have the medicine to tackle their arrogance,” he added.

The fresh incident came days after Madhya Pradesh BJP MLA Akash Vijayvarigya sparked off an outrage after he attacked a municipal officer with a cricket bat. The action of Akash, son of senior BJP leader, Kailash Vijayvargiya had drawn widespread flak, prompting Prime Ministet Narendra Modi to take a tough stand against him. “Any arrogance or misbehavior in public will not be tolerated... whoever’s son he may be,” Modi had said at a BJP meeting on Tuesday.
