Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel's indefinite hunger fast entered the fourth day on Tuesday even as NCP leader Praful Patel met him at his residence where he is fasting.

Hardik is demanding reservation for Patidars in jobs and education. He is also demanding loan waiver for farmers.

After he was denied permission to sit on a hunger fast in Nikol, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, he sat on a fast at his residence.

Praful Patel, who visited Hardik, said that the youth leader was not only fasting for the cause of Patidars but also for various strata of the society and farmers and, hence the NCP has extended support to him.

On Rakshabandhan day, Trinamool Congress' Dinesh Trivedi had tied rakhi to him. On Monday, 28 Congress MLAs from Gujarat had visited Hardik.

Doctors, who examined Hardik, said that he should either eat fruits or take liquid or else his kidney could be affected.

On Tuesday, reports of people sitting on token hunger fasts in support of Hardik in various parts of the state started trickling in. In Palanpur, people, holding dharna outside the collectorate, were picked up by the police.

Meanwhile, Hardik wrote a letter to Human Rights Commission seeking its intervention in the alleged violation of human rights by the Gujarat government.

Detailing how he was denied permission for protests and how essential commodities were not allowed for his supporters inside his residence, Hardik requested the commission to instruct the Gujarat government to ensure that the human rights are not violated.
