Political parties in the fray for Kairana and Noorpur bypolls in Uttar Pradesh are at full throttle as campaigning for both the constituencies ends on Saturday. The tug of war between the BJP and the opposition has become quite fierce in these two constituencies.

The BJP is mainly focusing on Jat and Muslim votes. Jats will play a vital role in Kairana while Muslims are a decisive factor in Noorpur. The saffron party has roped in Bagpat MP and Union minister Satpal Singh and former minister Sanjeev Baliyan, along with other Jat leaders, to win over the community. A few Jat leaders from Haryana, too, have been campaigning for the BJP.

Eyeing the Muslim votes, the ruling party has deployed its minority cell leader Kunwar Basit Ali and national head of Jamat -Ulma -E –Hind, Suyeb Kasmi, who have been campaigning in every nook and corner of the constituency.

Kairana bypolls are crucial for the BJP, given the politics of western UP. The result of this bypoll is likely to affect the Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself has campaigned in this constituency as BJP would leave no stone unturned to win the seat. A confident Adityanath said that the BJP would demolish the opposition alliance.

On the other hand, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is throwing its full energy to humble the BJP.  In Kairana parliamentary seat,  RLD candidate Tabassum Hasan is pitted against BJP’s Mriganka Singh, daughter of late MP HukumSingh. The RLD is fighting for its political space in the region while trying hard to woo Muslim voters.

The BJP had defeated RLD in 2014 parliamentary elections and 2017 assembly polls. Some of the Mulsim leaders have returned to RLD fold include Kokab Hamid, Amir Alam and Nawajish Alam, who are expected to give a tough fight to the BJP. The RLD candidate in Kairana is being supported by the SP, the BSP and the Congress.
