Kummanam Rajasekharan appointed Mizoram governor

Kerala BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan has been appointed the new governor of Mizoram. He has been the president of Kerala BJP since December 18, 2015.

The appointment of Kummanam Rajasekharan comes as the term of the incumbent Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma completes on May 28.

According to Malayala Manorama, there were indications that Kummanam Rajasekharan would be given national prominence. There are also indications that BJP president Amit Shah played a role in the appointment of the Kerala BJP leader.

Born in Kottayam, Kerala, he completed his degree from CMS College in Kottayam. He worked as a journalist in various publications after completing masters in journalism. Later, he joined government service.

He resigned from service and became more active in social service. Kummanam Rajasekharan was the secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi and Sabarimala Ayyappa Sewa Samajam.
