Though the Rajya Sabha poll results were not much palatable for the BSP and the SP, both parties are keen to ‘preserve’ their new found pact. Both parties now believe that the pact between them will be able to prevent BJP’s march in 2019 parliamentary polls in Uttar Pradesh.

As an effort to preserve the alliance, the SP has cancelled the victory celebration of its candidate Jaya Bachchan which was supposed to be held at the party headquarters in Lucknow today. The decision was taken in the backdrop of BSP candidate, Bhimrao Ambedker, supported by the SP failed to win. On the other hand, the BSP chief Mayawati said today in Lucknow that, “the BJP wants to break the friendship between BSP and SP but we will not let them succeed in their motives. Our friendship is unbreakable. We will keep fighting against the BJP.”

She also congratulated all those legislators, who stood by their party and did not do cross voting.

Mayawati made a scathing attack on the BJP and said that by pumping money and alluring the legislators, the BJP indulged in heavy horse trading, the BJP has ripped the dignity of democracy. She also exhorted to be cautious with the RLD legislators.

She also alleged that the BJP blatantly misused the government machinery to ensure the defeat of the BSP candidate.

She also exhorted the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav to concentrate more on the strategy and conspiracy of the BJP instead of wooing the independent MLA Raja Bhaiya, “there where the things went wrong,” she added.

She made it clear that the BSP, MLA, who cross voted has been expelled from the party.

BSP general secretary Satish Mishra, too blamed the BJP for the defeat of the BSP candidate. However, he made it clear that final decision regarding the alliance between both the parties will be taken by the BSP chief Mayawati.
