Apple TV recently confirmed that Idris Elba is returning for another round of the hit hostage thriller. Some had earlier speculated that the second season would be a continuation of the events in the first season. However, it appears that the resolution we saw in the Season 1 finale was complete and that the new season will focus on a different hostage situation.

What is 'Hijack' Season 2 about?

Season 2 will follow business negotiator Sam Nelson to Berlin, where he is caught in a hostage situation in an underground. Once again, Sam has to navigate an extremely tricky situation to ensure the safety of hundreds of lives, including his own.

The show was created by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “Litvinenko”). The second season will once again follow an eight-episode format.

When will 'Hijack' Season 2 begin streaming?

Season 2 will premiere globally on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly until February 25, 2026.

Aside from Idris Elba, Season 2 will see the return of Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi.
