Filmmaker and actress Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, known for her critically acclaimed directorial debut Aachar & Co, is preparing for her third feature, Teacher's Pet. The script is by Shuchi Dwivedi.

Hindi filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane ("Jubilee", "Udaan") will serve as executive producer through Andolan Films. The film is produced by Dwivedi and Aishwarya Sonar under Small Town Gurl Productions and Lambe Log Productions.

The project, presented at the WAVES Film Bazaar at the International Film Festival of Goa (IFFI), is a coming-of-age comedy set in an Indian all-girls Catholic boarding school, according to Variety.

"Rinky, an overachiever determined to become head girl of her school, until her ambitions are derailed when she finds herself pitted against her former best friend. What begins as a rivalry spirals into a chaotic, heartfelt journey through adolescent identity, friendship, and the universal awkwardness of growing up," said the official logline.

The team has yet to finalise the cast, with production expected to commence in December 2026, in Madhya Pradesh.

"We are committed to telling Indian stories for the world. 'Teacher's Pet' lets us do exactly that, as we explore the chaos of teenage life,” said Aishwarya Sonar in an official statement. “We grew up searching for ourselves in coming-of-age stories about white girls. With this, we're working towards being part of that change, not just for representation's sake, but also to showcase the vibrant universe of Indian comedies, which are rare on global screens."

Meanwhile, Sindhu's second directorial, 13 Days, is currently in post-production. In an interaction with The New Indian Express earlier this year, actor Kishore, who is a part of the film, said, “Sindhu has come up with a thought-provoking and sensitive concept. The story unfolds over 13 days, exploring themes of death, last rites, and the rituals that follow. It’s a unique narrative, and I felt compelled to be part of it.”
