Thamma's downward trend at the box office continues. The horror-comedy film was expected to dominate the Diwali season but instead, it has all gone downhill for the film right from the opening day. The nine-day figures of the film have come to around Rs 98.50 crore nett in India with collections dropping by every passing day.
Like Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Thamma also saw a jump in collections on Tuesday (Day 8) due to discounted ticket rates and collected Rs 5 crore nett on that day. However, the drop was seen on Wednesday as the film barely touched the Rs 3 crore nett mark in the country. If Thursday's numbers are anything to go by, more worries are on the way.
The morning and afternoon shows on Day 10 have shown a similar trend to the previous day but minor drops can be seen. As per early estimates, the film is set to collect in the Rs 2-3 crore nett range. Evening and night shows are crucial to determine whether the film can sustain to a level near Wednesday.
The film will cross Rs 100 crore nett today but the 100 crore club is not a thing anymore in Bollywood these days unless the film is made at a very low cost like Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. In fact, Thamma was supposed to be a Rs 200 crore nett film at the bare minimum, especially when you consider that Stree 2 had become the industry's biggest grosser at the time.
Ayushman Khurrana's highest grosser Dream Girl stands at Rs 142 crore nett and Thamma is unlikely to get anywhere near that, which is an embarrassing result for this film. Given the horror-comedy franchise advantage and a Diwali release, Thamma's numbers are disastrous. With the high costs involved, it is set to become a FLOP.
