After three days of facing drops at the box office, Thamma is finally set to have a solid day at the box office. The horror-comedy had an under-par fourth day with collections not touching the double-digit mark. The four-day collections in India have touched Rs 63 crore nett but the film saw a downward trend across the weekdays.
On Day 5, Thamma has seen a jump in collections across the board in the country. This isn't surprising, given that film was bound to see an increase due to the weekend factor. However, if the film hadn't shown any signs of a positive spike even today, the fate might well have been sealed but that isn't the case.
The morning shows on Day 5 doubled up on occupancy when compared to Day 4 while the afternoon shows also maintained the same trend. So far, the film is going at good pace and the Day 4 numbers have already been achieved with a large chunk of evening shows and night shows still left in the day.
Early estimates suggest a minimum of Rs 12 crore nett for the film and it could go a bit more higher depending on where the night shows land in the interior regions and smaller centers. This jump in collections is extremely satisfactory for Maddock Films who would have been gutted by the downward trend in the weekdays.
Thamma's five-day figures in India are set to be close to Rs 78-80 crore nett and the extended Diwali weekend should be around the Rs 95 crore nett mark. The major test will be the weekdays as the film is made on high costs and it will need to have a good run for at least three weeks to emerge as a major success.
