India's first female superhero movie, Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra has broken almost all major records in Mollywood box office and the world building in the movie is the talk of M-town now as the announcement of a sequel has prompted fans to float new theories.
One of the most-talked-about characters in the Lokah universe is Ishtar, who is the Queen of Heaven and the goddess of love, war and fertility worshipped by the Akkadians, Babylonians and Assyrians. Now fans on Reddit have come up with suggestions for as to who would be best suited to play the role of Ishtar in the sequel of Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra.
Taking to the subreddit Inside Mollywood, a user asked fellow Redditors about their opinion on the casting of the powerful female character who could rival Mammootty's character Moothon. The user themseleves suggested that Shobana or Manju Warrier could be cast from Mollywood or Aishwarya Rai or Anushka Shetty from other industries.
Many agreed with the suggestions given by the original poster but others differed. Several users backed the idea of Tabu, who played Sister Francesca in Dune 2, as a strong personality to rival Mammootty. Others said Remya Krishnan could be an apt cast for the role.
Some pointed out that lead Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor or Alia Bhatt should be cast, considering the large canvas of Lokah. Though a few floated Deepika Padukone's name, others flagged the recent controversy after she was snubbed in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Another one jokingly said that Isha Talwar should be cast as her name is similar to the character's.
But not all fans were happy with names from Bollywood, suggesting that the movie should have a person from Malayalam or other South Indian industries. Lady superstar Nayanthara was among the top in the list of suggestions, considering her stardom. A few backed Parvathi Thiruvothu, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Anna Ben but users generally felt that they would not be able to stand up to the aura of Mammootty.
However, some fans felt that Ishtar, being the daughter of the Mother Goddess, should be a much younger actress. Among the suggestions were Kantara actress Rukmini Vasanth and Ponniyin Selvan actress Sobhita Dhulipala.
Some suggested that the makers should cast from Hollywood if the sequel features global events such as World War II. They were hinting at Tovino's Chaathan asking Dulquer Salmaan's Odiyan whether he killed Adolf Hitler in the announcement teaser of the sequel. The suggestions included Emilia Clarke who played Daenerys Targaryen and Lena Headey who played Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. Others floated the names of Scarlett Johansson who played Black Widow in Marvel Cinematic Universe and Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney.
