A few days after the makers of the sequel to Telugu blockbuster 'Kalki 2898 AD' announced that Deepika Padukone will not be part of the movie, citing her commitment issues, a report claimed that the actor had shot for the movie 20 days.
Vyjayanthi Movies, which produced the Nag Ashwin-directed film, also starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, shared the news of the exit of the actress in a post on X, saying the project requires "commitment and much more". The studio said the producers and the actress were unable to work out a collaboration for the project.
Now, a News18 report claimed that Deepika Padukone had demanded a 25 per cent hike in her fees because she felt she could not be replaced.
"Deepika was fully aware of the sequel and the strong, performance-driven role created for her. In fact, she had already filmed nearly 20 days of Part 2 while shooting Part 1," the news report quoted a source as saying.
"Her schedule for the next phase was always meant to be decided mutually, so the claim of a date clash holds no merit," the report cited the insider as saying.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the actress had taken to social media to annouce that she was reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan for the upcoming movie King.
"The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together?" she had said in her post.
