Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 is slowly but surely becoming the black sheep of the YRF Universe. Despite a major star presence, Hrithik Roshan, with added contributions by Jr. NTR, pulling in a pan-Indian audience, the film’s performance, for what it was marketed as, is disappointing. The sixth instalment of the YRF franchise is yet to break into the Rs 200 crore club domestically, while the film’s competition, Rajinikanth’s Coolie sailed past the mark on Monday.
War 2, according to industry Sacnilk, garnered Rs 199.09 crore on its seventh day of run at the silver screens. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie minted Rs 222.59 crore.
Though the films have been managing decent numbers at the box office, both action flicks met with poor reviews, much to the disappointment of fans who expected a spectacular theatrical clash.
