‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ weekend box office collection: The Pawan Kalyan-starrer witnesses highs and lows

Despite a promising start and a star-studded cast, ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ stumbles at the box office amid criticism and tough competition

Despite high expectations and years of build-up, Hari Hara Veera Mallu has not managed to meet box office projections. A joint directorial by Krish Jagarlamudi and Jyothi Krishna, the historical action drama stars actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan in the lead, adding to the elated expectations.

In India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened with special night screenings on Wednesday, which minted Rs 12.75 crore. The next day, its first full day of running in theatres, saw a massive hike to Rs 35.75 crore. But the momentum of the film dropped drastically in the coming days, bringing in only Rs 8 crore on Friday, Rs 9.15 crore on Saturday, and Rs 11 crore on Sunday. So far, Hari Hara Veera Mallu's total collections has come up to Rs 75.65 crore.

The sudden dip in collections can be attributed to the mixed reviews the film received on opening day. While the audience found the first half engaging, the latter portion missed the mark due to a flimsy narrative and shoddy VFX.

Its pan-India release in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam may have backfired as competition from other regional hits, particularly the Hindi romantic drama Saiyaara, remain strong. The Mohit Suri directorial collected a striking Rs 30 crore on its second Sunday alone, continuing a dominant box office run.
