Mannat is not only Bollywood fame Shah Rukh Khan’s sprawling multi-storey luxurious bungalow with a gorgeous sea view, but also a well-known landmark in Mumbai’s Bandra. But it seems that Khan’s humble abode has caught the eye of a certain civic body.
The residence has been undergoing renovation since earlier this year and has now reportedly come under the radar of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to reports, a formal complaint was lodged by RTI activist Santosh Daundkar, which claims that the renovation is not in compliance with the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms.
The CRZ regulations are strictly enforced in coastal regions like Bandra, which is in close proximity to the Arabian Sea. Furthermore, the Mannat is a heritage structure. So that makes the building, placed at Mumbai’s southernmost post, limited to structural changes.
Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani denied any illegal activities. She told Times of India, "There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines."

On June 20, the BMC conducted inspections at the Mannat and a report on their preliminary findings will be submitted today.
Activist Daundkar had approached the National Green Tribunal (NGT) earlier accusing the actor of breaching the CRZ rules. They subsequently directed him to approach with evidence to substantiate the claim.
Mannat is a Grade III heritage site which was leased by Khan from the Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust in 2001 for a 99-year term. The structure, which was built in 1914, is reportedly undergoing renovation to accommodate an additional two floors. The Khan family now temporarily resides in the nearby Pali Hill area.
