The final trailer for the upcoming Warner Bros. action flick, Superman, dropped on their official YouTube channel and across various platforms on Tuesday, much to the excitement of fans. Clocking in at slightly over 2 minutes, the trailer shows the superhero, played by David Corenswet, donning the suit with a fresh yet classic look that captures the character's origins while embracing a cinematic flair.
The trailer features Superman facing his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. Luthor threatens to kill the superhero, his girlfriend Lois Lane, and his family, and obliterate the city that stands by Superman. The visuals suggest a blend of action, humour and emotional depth, all tied together with an optimistic tone.
This contrasts with the direction taken by previous DC productions, which showcased a more grounded and gritty universe. This creative shift is attributed to the studio undergoing a major creative overhaul in 2022, spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran, with the Superman movie being one of the first projects and the flagship movie in the first phase titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

The film is helmed and penned by Gunn, who has previously directed comic book films like the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, The Suicide Squad and the HBO Max series Peacemaker. The movie also features several other characters including Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced).
This wide ensemble of comic book figures is a major draw for fans, and the large-scale intense visuals shown in the trailer have sparked anticipation. Many view Superman as DC's boldest way of revitalizing its cinematic legacy.
