It was recently revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, would be directing the next Spider-Man film fronted by Tom Holland.
The filmmaker made his first appearance at Sony's CinemaCon where the film's title was revealed by Tom Holland as Brand New Day, with the release date set as July 31, 2026.
“Every day right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before,” said Cretton.
The film will take Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man on a new adventure after the unexpected events with which the last entry, Spider-Man: No Way Home, ended. The story saw Peter Parker revealing his identity to the world, which greatly concerned Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film also saw the return of the Tobey Maguire and Andre Garfield versions of the famous web-slinger.
Given how the film wrapped up the events, a fourth film was expected, and also considering how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended up as the seventh highest-grossing film at the global box office, with a total collection of $1.95 billion.
Meanwhile, Sony Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third instalment in the immensely successful animated trilogy featuring the character Miles Morales, is slated for a theatrical release on June 4, 2027.
Originally planned for release on March 29, 2024, Beyond the Spider-Verse was postponed later due to the strikes and other reasons.
