Malayalam actor Basil Joseph, known for his critically acclaimed roles in Ponman and Jan-e-Man, has joined the cast of Sudha Kongara's upcoming Tamil feature Parasakthi.
The actor, who is also a filmmaker known for hits such as Minnal Murali, Godha and Kunjiramayanam, has reportedly joined the film's Sri Lanka schedule involving Ravi Mohan. The film marks Basil's Tamil debut.
Parasakthi has a stellar ensemble cast featuring Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela, among others.
The makers recently released a nearly two-minute-long footage which begins with 'Once upon a time in Madras', it's evident that the film is of a strongly political nature. We see campus politics, student gangs, and the intriguing scene of Ravi Mohan using the picture of Sivakarthikeyan for target practice, followed by the introduction of the leading man himself, who shows up in front of a large crowd and tells them, 'We need an army... a great army..."
Scripted jointly by Sudha Kongara and Arjun Nadesan and bankrolled by Dawn Pictures, Parasakthi has veteran Ravi K Chandran as director of photography and Sathish Surya (Soorarai Pottru) on the editing table, with GV Prakash Kumar working on the music.
Sudha's last directorial was Sarfira, the Akshay Kumar-led Hindi remake of her National award-winning Tamil feature Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali.
In addition to Parasakthi, Sivakarthikeyan is working on a yet-untitled Tamil action thriller written and directed by AR Murugadoss, and produced by N. V. Prasad under Sri Lakshmi Movies. It stars Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles, with Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Sanjay and Sachana Namidass in the rest of the cast.
