Actor John Abraham has revealed that football film 1911 has been shelved. The film, based on the victory of the Shibdas Bhaduri-led Mohun Bagan team during the IFA Shield Final match in 1911, was set to be bankrolled by the actor’s production banner, JA Entertainment. Abraham was also set to essay the role of the lead character Bhaduri.
“Unfortunately, that film’s not happening because we’ve been through a lot of processes, and the idea sounds good. But we’ve seen a lot of films on football… But do we want to make it? Yes, in the future. We’ve parked that for now,” Abraham told PTI.

Addressing the reports of the 54-year-old actor playing the role of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who is credited for solving the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts and being a part of the team that was responsible for investigating the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008, he said, “The Rakesh Maria biopic is in the discussion stage. I haven’t signed a single film. I’m waiting for the release of The Diplomat, and then I’ve got an exciting film, Tehran. I haven’t signed anything but hopefully, the day I sign it I’ll let everybody know.”
Abraham’s upcoming film The Diplomat is based on the true story of Indian diplomat JP Singh. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film is slated to release on March 14, 2025.
