Unpaid dues: Extras who worked on Ram Charan's 'Game Changer' file police complaint

Around 350 Telugu background actors have alleged that they are yet to get paid for their work in the big-budget film directed by Shankar

Game Changer Ram Charan

As per a report, 350 people who worked as extras (background actors) on Ram Charan's Game Changer have alleged that they haven't been paid for their work on the Shankar directorial. The artistes have filed a complaint at Guntur police station, according to the Telugu news portal Telugu Scribe.

As per one of the artistes, who is named in the report as Tarun, the 350 members from Guntur and Vijayawada travelled to Hyderabad to shoot portions for the film and were promised Rs 1200 for their work by the film's co-director Swargam Shiva. However, they did not get paid.

While the complete picture remains unclear, it seems Swargam Shiva was acting of his own accord, and a request has been made to producer Dil Raju and Shankar to get to the bottom of the issue. The Game Changer team has yet to respond on the matter.

Shankar's films, known for their large scale, are characterised by their use of big crowds to create a sense of epic scale. Game Changer is no different. The film was released on Prime Video recently after a brief theatrical run.

Game Changer, which was Shankar's follow-up to Indian 2, was released in theatres on 10 January 2025. Also starring Kiara Advani, Anjali and SJ Suryah, the big-budget film was released in various formats including standard, IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and Qube EPIQ.

However, as in the case of the Kamal Haasan-starrer, the film received largely negative reviews from critics and audiences and was deemed a flop.
