Brad Pitt's racing drama 'F1' to release in India on June 27

Ehren Kruger, who also wrote 'Top Gun: Maverick', is the screenwriter of 'F1', which has Brad Pitt as a co-producer alongside blockbuster veteran Jerry Bruckheimer

Warner Bros. India has confirmed that Brad Pitt's racing drama F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Oblivion), will hit theatres in the country and worldwide on June 27.

The release update accompanies a new Super Bowl ad showing Pitt behind the wheel as a former Formula One driver called out of retirement to train a rookie (Damson Idris). From the footage in the promos released so far, it's evident the makers went to great lengths to ensure maximum authenticity.

Aside from the principal cast members, ten real-life FI drivers from the 2023 and 2024 seasons, like George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Sergio Pérez, will be making appearances as the film was made in association with F1.

The film is also an Apple original, since the streamer acquired the rights for a whopping sum, and a deal has been made to have the film run in theatres, in the regular and IMAX formats, first before it lands on streaming.

The film's heavy ensemble cast features the likes of Javier Bardem, Kim Bodnia, Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies, among others.

Ehren Kruger, who also wrote Top Gun: Maverick, is the screenwriter of F1, which has Brad Pitt as a co-producer alongside blockbuster veteran Jerry Bruckheimer, Joseph Kosinski and Lewis Hamilton, among others.

Hans Zimmer is the composer and Claudio Miranda the director of photography.

Kosinski earlier told Deadline that the film has Brad and Damson "actually driving the cars, which is pretty spectacular in itself, but to do that in front of a live audience and at the speeds they’re doing it and figuring out a way to capture it… The logistics of it are unlike anything I’ve done before. We’re shooting at the actual Grands Prix, there are certain aspects of this film where we’re working in very, very tight windows, shooting on the track, between practice and qualifying sessions, in front of hundreds of thousands of people."
