The highly anticipated Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has arrived at the theatres with a bang. The film, which is a sequel to the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise, hit the big screens on December 5, with early screenings in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on December 4.

At the time of publishing this article, the film has so far garnered Rs 35 crore, according to box office tracker Sacnilk. With over Rs 100 crore in advance bookings, Pushpa 2 is set to join the ranks of blockbuster Indian films that crossed the 100 crore mark on day 1, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 217 crore) – which became the first Indian film not only crossed the 100 crore mark, but also 200 crore – RRR (Rs 223 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 191 crores), Devara (Rs 172 crores), and KGF 2 (Rs 150 crores) to list a few.
A significant portion of the film's advance booking revenue comes from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with Rs 19 crore and Rs 17 crore respectively.
Pushpa 2: The Rule ticket price hike
On December 2, the Andhra Pradesh government approved the price hike request made by the Pushpa 2 makers, which will see an increase in ticket prices for a few days after release. Leading man Allu Arjun thanked the government for their approval, stating that it demonstrates the “steadfast commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Telugu film industry.”

On release day, December 5, the single screen and multiplex tickets are priced at Rs 324.50 and Rs 413, respectively. The tickets in Telangana have been fixed at Rs 1,200 (paid previews), Rs 531 (multiplexes), and Rs 354 (single screens). A petition was filed to the Telangana government seeking the reversal of the price hike.

A sequel to the hit 2021 film, Pushpa 2: The Rule will follow titular character Pushpa, who is involved in the illegal smuggling of red sandalwood. He is in the quest for revenge against SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, following the death of his mother and brother. The film, directed by Sukumar, will also star Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu, and Dhananjaya.
