A long lineup of exciting releases awaits us this week, both on the big screens and streaming platforms. With Onam just around the corner, four Malayalam films including Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha and Nivin Pauly's Ramachandra Boss & Co arrive on the big screens this week.

Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2 also hits theatres this week, along with OTT releases like Ahsoka, Bajao and more.

Dream Girl 2: Theatres

Release date: August 25

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, known for choosing quirky and experimental plotlines, is back with the sequel of his 2019 hit film Dream Girl. Directed by Raaj Shaandilya, Dream Girl 2 also features Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee and Seema Pahwa among others. While the original revolved around a young man who made a living by impersonating a female voice, the sequel brings that person on to screen. Khurrana reprises the role of a small-town boy, Karam, who cross-dresses as Pooja to make money to marry the love of his life.

King of Kotha: Theatres

Release date: August 24

A Malayalam period-action drama, the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer is one of the most anticipated releases this week. Directed by Abhilash Joshiy, the film revolves around gang wars in the crime-infested fictional town of Kotha. The film also features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod Jose among others.

Ramachandra Boss & Co: Theatres

Release date: August 25

Yet another festival release, the Nivin Pauly-starrer locks horns with King of Kotha in theatres this week. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Ramachandra Boss & Co is a heist film set in the UAE. Billed as a fun drama, the film also features Vinay Forrt, Jaffer Idukki, Mamitha Baiju, Aarsha Chandini Baiju among others. This is Nivin's second collaboration with Adeni after Mikhael.

RDX (Robert Dony Xavier): Theatres

Release date: August 25

Yet another period film with elements of action and drama, Malayalam film RDX revolves around the titular trio essayed by Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav. Set in the 1980s, the film features quite a few high-octane stunt sequences and explores the repercussions of these gang-fights on the central characters. Bbau Antony essays a martial arts trainer in the film that heavily depends on its stunt scenes.

Ahsoka: Disney Plus 

Release date: August 22

Part of the Star Wars franchise, this live-action series is a spinoff from The Mandalorian. "Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy,” reads the synopsis. Rosario Dawson essays the titular role.

Bajao: JioCinema

Release date: August 25

The musical comedy series marks the acting debut of rapper Raftaar. Set in the Punjabi pop industry, the series follows the story of three young filmmakers who try to make it big in the world of entertainment. Directed by Shiv Varma and Saptaraj Chakraborty, Bajao also features Tanuj Virwani, Mahira Sharma and Monalisa among others.

You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah: Netflix

Release date: August 25

The family comedy drama revolves around the events that happen during a young Jewish girl's bat mitzwah. Directed by Sammi Cohen, the film's cast includes Adam Sandler, Idina Menzel, Sarah Sherman among others.
