A team of officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrived in Mumbai, in connection with case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The 10-member team, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Nupur Prasad, reached Mumbai Thursday night to begin the investigation in the case. Nupur Prasad met cops from the Mumbai Police on Friday, NDTV reported.
According to reports, the team has collected case records from Mumbai Police, including postmortem report, his phone and laptop, and questioned Sushant’s cook, who is among the key witnesses.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had clarified that the CBI team that will arrive in the city for the investigation will be exempted from COVID-19 quarantine protocol and will be exempted from quarantine.
Sushant was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14. A team of forensic experts will also examine his apartment on Friday.
The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, ordered CBI probe into the actor’s death and said that the FIR registered in Patna, based on his father’s complaint, is legitimate. The CBI had registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection after the Centre accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation to transfer the probe to the CBI.
The CBI team had already collected relevant material from the Bihar Police.
On Wednesday, the apex court also rejected Rhea’s plea to transfer the FIR from Patna to Mumbai. Rhea has been accused by Sushant’s father of abetting his suicide, siphoning off his funds, and more in his complaint lodged in Patna.
