Journalist and film critic Rajeev Masand recorded his statement in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case on Tuesday.
Masand was questioned about the negative ratings he gave to Sushant's films, the Times of India reported.
So far, the police have recorded statements of over 36 people, including director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra, actress Sanjana Sanghi, filmmaker Aditya Chopra and Sushant’s friend Sandip Singh, among others, Hindustan Times reported. Sushant’s girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, had also given her statement to the police.
Earlier, the Mumbai police recorded statements of mental health professionals whom Sushant had consulted.
Sushant Singh, 34, died by suicide on June 14. The police are investigating allegations that professional rivalry, besides clinical depression, drove the actor to suicide. Police are also trying to understand the reason behind Sushant ending his contract with YRF.
Recently, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh dismissed the need for a CBI probe into the death case of Rajput, saying the Mumbai police are capable of handling the matter. This came after Rhea Chakraborty appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry, to understand ‘what pressures’ pushed Sushant to take the extreme step.
“Respected @AmitShah sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It is now over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government, however, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry,” she tweeted.
