Anushka and Virat let go of 'celebrity status' during Bhutan vacation

Virat Kohli celebrates his 31st birthday today

Anushka Sharma is spending some quality time in Bhutan with husband Virat Kohli, as he celebrates his 31st birthday on Tuesday. Sharing a few photos from the trip on her Instagram, she wrote a long post on their trip, and their love for connecting with people. “Whoever knows Virat and me very closely, know that both of us live for such moments of genuine, simple & pure human connection,” she wrote.

She shared pictures of time spent with a local family who offered them tea. She said that the family had no clue about their celebrity status, and they were just being kind to 'two tired trekkers'.

Earlier, she also shared an Instagram story in which she is seen posing in a vegetable market.

Anushka was in the news earlier this week for her sharp reply to former Indian cricketer Farrokh Engineer who claimed that during the cricket World Cup in England, earlier this year, he had seen BCCI officials fetching tea for Anushka. In a social media post, Anushka said she stayed quiet through all times she was blamed for Kohli's poor performance and other “most baseless things involving Indian cricket” because she saw “dignity & truth embedded in the shadow of my silence”. She said she decided to speak up because her silence had made the “lies pitted against” her seem true.
