Horror franchises are rare in Indian cinema. Rarer is horror comedy franchises. But director-actor Raghava Lawrence hit the sweet spot with his Kanchana series. His latest movie, Kanchana 3—third in the Kanchana series and fourth in Muni series—is set to hit theatres on Friday.
Kanchana 3, (also known as Muni 4 : Kanchana 3), has all the ingredients that the franchise is known for—horror, action, comedy and drama. Directed and written by Raghava Lawrence and staring himself along with Oviya and Vedhika, Kanchana 3, according to the director, will offer maximum entertainment to the audience.

Raghava Lawrence told The Hindu that he intends to offer a "social message" along wit providing entertainment to people who walks into theatres to experience a horror comedy. He said he would do so without being preachy.
Speaking about the movie, Vedhika, who was also part of Muni and is making a comeback to Kollywood after a brief hiatus, said when she was called by the director for Kanchana 3, she thought the movie would be a great addition to her filmography. She told news agency IANS that she didn't want to miss the movie as with Kanchana 3 she was getting a chance to do something really commercial and added that the movie is close to her heart.
