He was also informed about the potential impact of an escalation in ongoing conflicts on India, along with the challenges and opportunities arising from the current geopolitical situation.

The meeting comes days after Iran launched ballistic missiles at the US-UK military base in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The attempted strike failed to cause damage, with missiles reportedly intercepted or falling short of the target.

"The impact of the situation on the supply chain management towards procurement and production of defence equipment, including maintenance and serviceability of existing equipment, was also examined," during the meeting, a statement from the defence ministry said.

The defence minister instructed the military leadership that operational and technological lessons from the ongoing conflict be continuously analysed to strengthen India’s preparedness.

“We need to formalise a comprehensive integrated roadmap for the next decade, factoring in the lessons learnt, challenges and opportunities going forward whilst ensuring Aatmanirbharta and operational readiness across all fronts,” Singh said.
