WATCH: Indian Army's Southern Command leads drone warfare in 'Exercise Trishul'

Exercise Trishul is showcasing the Indian Army Southern Command's indigenously developed drones, built with expertise from EME and MSME partners

The ongoing tri-service exercise, Exercise Trishul, aimed at fostering synergy and interoperability among the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, is also becoming a venue for testing indigenous drones developed by the Southern Command of the Indian Army.

The Southern Command said these indigenous drones demonstrated exceptional precision, endurance, and mission flexibility even under contested combat conditions during the field tests conducted at the tri-service exercise.

As drones have redefined the nature of modern warfare, the Indian Army is building a comprehensive ecosystem to develop indigenous unmanned systems capable of transforming battlefield dynamics.

"Guided by the mantra “Eagle on Every Arm”, the Southern Command has created a robust, in-house ecosystem for design, development, and large-scale production of combat-ready drones, translating the self-reliant vision into battlefield capability," the Southern Command said in a tweet.

Harnessing the technical expertise of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), which is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall technical support of all army equipment, and working in synergy with India’s MSME partners, the Southern Command’s drone hubs are coming up with a new generation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) designed and optimised for surveillance, precision strike, and electronic warfare roles.
